Huawei Honors Bookham with Excellent Core Partner Award

Shenzhen, China – November 13, 2008 – Bookham, Inc. (Nasdaq: BKHM), a leading provider of optical components, modules and subsystems, today announced that it has received the Excellent Core Partner Award from Huawei – one of the world’s leading manufacturers of equipment for the telecommunications industry. Bookham President and CEO, Alain Couder, received the award at the Huawei 2008 Core Partner Convention.

The award – the fourth vendor recognition Bookham has received from Huawei in recent years – reflects the consistent delivery of high performance, high reliability products by Bookham, and the quality of Bookham customer service.

Bookham supplies a wide range of its high end optical components and modules to Huawei, including 10Gb/s co-packaged laser-modulators, receivers, directly modulated and tunable lasers, and 980nm pumps, all of which are assembled in the company’s facility in Shenzhen.

Bookham has invested significantly in local pre- and post-sales customer service and continued to expand its Shenzhen engineering teams. The company works to partner with customers on new product designs, technical support, quality assurance and development planning.

Bookham opened its advanced manufacturing facility in Shenzhen in March 2004. Since then, the assembly of all the company’s telecom products has moved to China. Key quality systems and processes have been established in Shenzhen in line with the company’s best practices and global ISO9000:2000 registration. Bookham now employs over 1,300 people in its Shenzhen assembly facility.
